FAQs

Can I get my dog measured at your shows?

Yes, all our shows have measuring sessions in the morning before classes start. There is no need to book a slot and there is no fee for this. You will have to ensure your dog is measured before you run however. If you dog is obviously 600 then there is no need for a measure. Dogs must be 15 months old for their 1st measure.

How do I enter without knowing my dog's height?

Just select whichever height you think your dog is likely to be, and if after being measured it turns out to be different we can change it!

The show has closed but I've entered one height but want to change to another - how do I do this?

Please speak to the Show Secretary in the morning at the show before you run and they can amend this for you.

Can I pay for late entries from my A4A wallet?

No, late entries are paid directly to the Show Manager and as such, cannot be paid for from A4A wallets. Please see the individual show schedules for details on how late entries can be paid.

When will the ring plan and running orders be available?

The ring plans and running orders are normally available to download the week before the show. Please log into your A4A account, click 'Enter Shows' then 'Docs'

Can I run my dog 'not for competition'?

Yes, we love giving handlers the opportunity to run their dogs NFC. You don't need to select this when entering the show, but let the Ring Party know on the day when you are about to run. You will have 60 seconds in the ring and when the time is up, the scrime will shout 'time'.

Can I take a toy in with me?

Yes, handlers are permitted to take a toy into the ring and onto the start line, but it must be concealed i.e. in a pocket thereafter. Full explanation can be found in our Rule Book.

Can I take food in with me?

No food is permitted in rings at A4A shows, even in pockets and if seen will result in an elimination.

I have 2 dogs in the same class - do I have to run them in a certain order?

No, you can run them in whichever order you prefer! Just make sure you check in with the correct dog when queuing.

Does course walking happen in between heights?

No, at A4A course walking is done for each level i.e.  Beginners all heights will walk together and then Novice all heights.

Can my friend run my dog?

Yes, as long as they have their own A4A account. When entering a show, do so on your own account and just change the handler at point of entry. Alternatively, the Show Secretary can do this for you at the show before the run.

When does the A4A yearly league run from/to?

A4A runs a league for all competitors where the competitors who gain the most progression points (including at select height) in each level and height are recognised. Like progression points, the league is split into Performance and Steeplechase. Entry is automatic and the standings can be seen on the League tab of your A4A account.

Your dog will be entered at their measured height and their level as of January 1st. All points earned this year will contribute to your ranking in this category, even if you earn out of this level during the year.

The league runs between January 1st and December 31st.

Can Bitches in season compete at A4A shows?

Yes,  the handler should inform the Show Secretary upon their arrival, the BIS should start courses on a mat  provided by the handler, and the handler should keep the BIS away from the rings as much as possible. Please see the show information if there is any additional guidance.
